Spirit is a 1981 Alberg 37 Mk II, a respected bluewater cruiser with the strength and elegance Carl Alberg’s designs are known for. She has been thoughtfully maintained and upgraded, making her a reliable choice for extended cruising or local sailing. Her 30 HP Isuzu diesel shows only 309.9 hours, and recent service included replacement of the rear engine mounts. The Doyle sail plan consists of a roller-furling jib, main with two reef points, and a mizzen, supported by a Harken Mark III furler and updated rigging components.

A 2021 electrical refit included a 450Ah battery bank, new cabling, Blue Sea panels, galvanic isolator, Smart Plug, and mast wiring, providing a robust and modern power system. Electronics include an Autohelm 3000 autopilot with spare, Nexus wind instrument, Lowrance sounder, and Horizon Eclipse VHF. For comfort aboard, Spirit carries a Sigmarine diesel heater, Shipmate stove, and Raritan hot water heater. Her ground tackle is equally dependable, with a Bruce anchor, Simpson Lawrence manual windlass, and ample chain and rode.

She was most recently hauled and painted in August 2025 with Interlux Micron CRC ablative, and a professional survey at that time confirmed her hull to be in excellent condition. Spirit is a fine example of the Alberg 37 Mk II, offering both classic character and proven upgrades for her next owner.

Spirit, a 1981 Alberg 37 Mk II, embodies classic offshore capability with timeless lines and a reputation for strength and seaworthiness. Designed by Carl Alberg, she is a true bluewater cruiser with graceful overhangs and a proven hull form. Her Isuzu 3LD1 30 HP diesel has only 309.9 hours and is paired with a Twin Disc gear, offering reliable and efficient propulsion. The Doyle sail inventory includes a roller-furling jib, mainsail with two reef points, and a mizzen (currently off the boat). The Harken Mark III furler was updated in 2020 along with the forestay and halyard swivel.

Spirit’s electronics and navigation gear include an Autohelm 3000 autopilot (with a spare unit), Nexus wind data instrument, Lowrance X25 sounder, and Horizon Eclipse VHF radio. She also carries a Simpson Lawrence Sea Tiger manual two-speed windlass with a Bruce anchor, 50’ of 3/8” chain, and 220’ of 5/8” three-strand rode.

Extensive electrical work was completed in 2021, including a full rewire, 450Ah battery bank with Interstate batteries, new battery cables, Smart Plug, galvanic isolator, Blue Sea panels and switches, Victron components, and mast wiring replacement. Additional systems include an Exantrex 10A charger, Trace meter, Vertex 2-port pad charger, and both 12V DC and 110V AC power distribution.

Comfort aboard is enhanced by a Sigmarine 120 diesel heater with day tank and exhaust fan, Shipmate alcohol stove, and a Raritan electric hot water heater. The head system includes an 18-gallon holding tank with new hoses installed in 2021. The rear engine mounts were replaced at 237 hours.

Her hull is in excellent condition, freshly painted with Interlux Micron CRC ablative in August 2025, at which time she was surveyed with excellent results. Spirit offers the perfect balance of classic design, recent maintenance, and strong equipment for sailors seeking a true offshore-capable yacht.
